About 'southwest florida college ft myers'|You knew it was coming: Watchmen








               The               University               of               Florida               has               enjoyed               much               athletic               success               in               recent               times.

The               football               and               men's               basketball               teams               each               won               two               NCAA               Championships               in               the               past               half               decade.

Additionally,               both               the               Gator               women's               softball               and               men's               baseball               teams               reached               the               finals               of               their               respective               championships               this               past               spring.

The               college               town               of               Gainesville               and               entire               state               of               Florida               are               getting               accustomed               to               winning.
               This               is               also               true               of               the               Gators'               successful               track               and               field               program,               led               by               rising               junior               sprinter               Tony               McQuay               of               Riviera               Beach,               Florida.

The               Gators               are               coached               by               Mike               Holloway,               who               has               guided               the               track               and               field               team               since               2002.

Holloway               has               been               named               an               assistant               coach               for               the               United               States               2012               Olympic               team               and               will               work               with               sprinters               and               hurdlers.

This               certainly               gives               an               edge               to               McQuay               in               competing               for               the               USA               at               the               London               Olympics.
               A               former               high               school               football               player,               Tony               McQuay               was               a               track               star               even               prior               to               his               arrival               in               Gainesville.

McQuay               won               the               2009               FHSAA               state               championships               in               his               signature               event,               the               400               meter               dash.

His               success               has               continued               in               college               and               now               brings               glory               to               the               Gators'               program               as               a               whole.
               On               June               11,               2011,               the               University               of               Florida               scored               a               third               place               finish               at               the               NCAA               Outdoor               Championships               in               Des               Moines,               Iowa.

McQuay               participated               in               both               the               400               meter               dash               and               4x400               meter               relay.

He               posted               the               top               overall               time               in               qualifying               for               the               400               meter               sprint,               with               a               44.87               second               run,               and               finished               second               in               the               finals               behind               Kirani               James               of               Alabama.

Furthermore,               he               anchored               the               squad's               4x400               relay               and               aided               a               sixth               place               showing               in               the               finals.
               The               month               of               June               soon               produced               even               better               results               for               the               Olympic               hopeful.

Competing               at               the               2011               US               Outdoor               Track               and               Field               Championships               in               Eugene,               Oregon,               Tony               McQuay               shocked               the               track               community               by               defeating               former               Olympic               gold               medalist               and               world               champion               Jeremy               Wariner.

Posting               a               blistering               time               of               44.68               seconds,               McQuay               blew               past               Wariner               during               the               race's               final               100               meters.
               The               win               has               the               collegiate               junior               very               confident,               as               he               attempts               to               earn               a               place               on               the               US               national               team.

McQuay               told               the               Associated               Press,               "I               want               to               break               the               world               record.

I've               got               my               mind               set               on               that."
               Michael               Johnson's               time               of               43.18               has               been               the               400               meter               record               since               1999.

If               McQuay               can               continue               his               quest               of               approaching               that               mark,               he               surely               will               have               a               spot               running               for               America               in               the               2012               Summer               Olympics.

    It               took               the               better               part               of               a               month,               but               after               an               exhaustive               and               somewhat               controversial               search               throughout               January,               the               Tampa               Bay               Buccaneers               finally               have               a               new               head               coach.

    On               Thursday,               January               26,               word               leaked               out               that               Greg               Schiano               of               Rutgers               will               become               the               9th               head               coach               in               the               36               year               history               of               the               franchise.
                   Not               afraid               of               making               a               commitment               to               the               right               man,               Adam               Schefter               of               ESPN               is               reporting               that               the               Bucs               are               prepared               to               give               their               candidate               a               5               year               contract.
                   The               news               comes               as               a               surprise               to               most               observers,               as               Schiano               was               not               previously               considered               a               candidate,               nor               was               the               New               Jersey               native               known               to               be               seeking               a               return               to               the               NFL.
                   Schiano               has               been               the               coach               of               Rutgers               since               2001,               where               he               compiled               a               68-67               record               and               was               further               honored               as               the               2006               NCAA               Coach               of               the               Year.

    Prior               to               assuming               top               duties               at               the               Big               East               school,               the               45               year-old               was               the               defensive               coordinator               for               the               University               of               Miami               (FL)               for               two               seasons               and               spent               3               years               as               a               defensive               assistant               for               the               Chicago               Bears.
                   Yet,               it               has               been               in               leading               Rutgers               that               Schiano               has               come               to               national               prominence               and               been               lauded               for               his               work               with               the               Scarlet               Knights.

    Once               a               doormat               team               in               all               of               college               football,               Schiano               suffered               through               4               losing               seasons               before               turning               around               the               program.

    Indeed,               it               took               the               former               Bucknell               University               linebacker               the               better               part               of               3               campaigns               even               to               win               a               conference               game.
                   However,               in               preaching               discipline               and               practicing               an               emphasis               on               rushing               and               defense,               Schiano               has               completely               transformed               the               culture               in               Piscataway,               New               Jersey.

    In               place               of               a               legacy               of               failure,               Rutgers               has               qualified               for               6               bowl               games               in               the               past               7               years               and               become               an               annual               contender               in               the               Big               East               Conference.
                   Schiano               has               not               only               triumphed               in               5               of               those               post-season               contests,               but               the               former               understudy               to               Joe               Paterno               has               landed               numerous               top               recruits               and               placed               such               contributors               into               the               NFL.

    Current               Pro               Bowl               caliber               players               who               learned               under               the               former               Rutgers               coach               include               Ray               Rice               of               the               Baltimore               Ravens,               Kenny               Britt               of               the               Tennessee               Titans,               and               Gary               Brackett               of               the               Indianapolis               Colts.
                   Perhaps               nothing               is               a               better               testament               to               Schiano's               impact               on               the               New               Jersey               school               that               the               $100               million               renovation               to               High               Points               Solutions               Stadium               in               2009               that               drastically               improved               the               experience               of               attending               big               time               college               football               in               the               all-important               New               York/New               Jersey               sports               market.
                   With               Raymond               James               Stadium               rarely               filled               on               football               Sundays,               surely               ownership               envisions               such               an               analogous               revitalization               occurring               in               Tampa               under               their               new               football               leader.

    That               hope               undoubtedly               influenced               the               decision               to               make               a               bold               hire               and               inject               hope               into               a               fan-base               that               has               been               wounded.
                   After               being               spurned               by               Chip               Kelly               of               Oregon,               and               then               dangerously               flirting               with               a               handful               of               NFL               retreads,               the               Bucs               believe               they               have               found               the               ideal               choice               to               succeed               Raheem               Morris               and               erase               bitter               memories               of               the               disappointing               2011               season.
                   The               track-record               of               Greg               Schiano               indicates               ownership               is               correct               and,               as               a               supporter               of               the               Bucs,               I               am               thrilled               by               the               hire.
                   I               applaud               the               Glazer's               family               willingness               to               go               in               a               completely               different               direction,               after               the               failure               of               the               player-friendly               approach               of               the               prior               coach.

    Schiano's               success               with               Rutgers               --               on               and               off               the               football               field               --               is               impossible               to               question.

    His               defensive               background               will               mercifully               assist               in               minimizing               critical               problems               like               poor               tackling               and               sloppy               fundamentals.
                   Finally,               the               new               coach's               experience               from               working               with               veterans               like               Paterno,               Butch               Davis,               and               Dave               Wannstedt               certainly               provides               credibility               that               the               young               players               on               the               Buccaneers               desperately               need.
                   Simply               put,               Greg               Schiano               is               the               kind               of               coach               who               can               not               only               teach,               but               can               also               kick               butt               and               this               team               better               realize               it.

    Hopefully,               beginning               with               the               2012               season,               the               Bucs               will               be               able               to               do               the               same               to               the               rest               of               the               NFL.

    A               review               of               the               University               of               Memphis               in               Memphis,               Tennessee               might               not               be               on               the               top               of               high               school               students               to               do               lists,               at               least               not               until               Memphis               started               making               some               noise               in               the               NCAA.

    It               is               truly               amazing               how               Division               I               sports               and               the               television               time               it               provides               for               colleges               can               help               to               advertise               schools               which               otherwise               might               never               get               a               second               look               from               high               school               seniors.

    When               the               University               of               Memphis               showed               up               as               the               Number               1               college               basketball               team               on               College               Basketball               Polls,               it               became               time               to               give               more               thorough               consideration               to               this               Tennessee               institution               of               higher               education               and               very               good               basketball.

    Getting               it               Together               The               Memphis               University               that               is               drawing               television               time               and               lots               of               accolades               thanks               to               its               surge               in               NCAA               basketball,               started               out               as               a               simple               normal               school               back               at               the               beginning               of               the               twentieth               century               in               1909.

    It               took               almost               a               full               century               and               a               host               of               name               and               curriculum               changes               to               finally               bring               the               school               in               Memphis               to               its               current               standing.
                   It               was               not               until               1994               that               the               school               finally               took               the               official               title               of               the               University               of               Memphis               and               clearly               stated               its               vision               to               become               an               outstanding               metropolitan               research               institution.

    Today               approximately               15,000               undergraduate               students               and               some               5,000               graduate               students               attend               Memphis               University.

    They               may               enjoy               the               current               basketball               notoriety               but               they               are               here               because               of               the               change               share               in               the               vision               and               prepare               themselves               for               the               world               of               work               after               college.
                   Academics.

    Students               are               apt               to               find               exactly               the               academic               programs               they               are               seeking               at               the               University               of               Memphis,               Memphis,               Tennessee               because               this               is               a               large               and               diverse               academic               center.

    You               can               choose               from               university               schools               on               campus               that               center               on               the               arts               and               sciences,               engineering,               nursing,               education,               communication,               business               and               audiology               and               speech-language               pathology.

    In               all               the               University               of               Memphis               spreads               out               before               you               50               majors               and               70               concentrations               so               that               you               can               make               a               selection               best               suited               to               your               abilities               and               interests.

    Progress               here               has               been               commendable.

    In               Tennessee,               the               University               of               Memphis               is               seen               as               the               model               for               higher               education               institutions               and               a               good               choice               for               students.
                   Student               living               If               you               choose               to               come               to               the               University               of               Memphis               you               will               definitely               find               yourself               at               a               school               whose               undergraduates               seem               to               know               how               to               organize.

    The               proof               lies               in               the               fact               that               at               last               count               there               were               176               registered               student               organizations               on               campus.

    They               included               groups               and               clubs               for               sports,               religion,               politics,               hobbies,               service,               even               Greek               life.
                   Sure               students               currently               are               very               involved               in               the               game               to               game               drama               of               having               a               celebrity               basketball               team               on               their               campus.

    But               when               the               season               comes               to               an               end               all               will               be               pleased               to               continue               on               with               the               organizations               that               give               such               quality               to               their               out               of               class               (and               after               game)               time.

    Students               at               the               University               of               Memphis               may               be               happy               to               be               near               the               largest               city               in               the               state               of               Tennessee               but               the               park               like               quality               of               the               campus               of               the               University               of               Memphis               may               also               make               them               grateful               for               the               very               pleasant               and               thought               inducing               environment               they               find               all               around               them               as               they               go               about               their               daily               student               life
                   Choose               the               University               of               Memphis               and               You               Get               the               City               Too.

    Memphis,               Tennessee               was               founded               in               1820.

    It               sits               on               a               bluff               and               overlooks               the               Mississippi               and               is               a               very               unique               location               for               a               city               of               some               600,000               people.

    Attending               the               University               of               Memphis               will               give               you               four               years               to               explore               and               learn               about               the               heritage               and               history               of               this               very               special               city.
                   Two               aspects               of               life               in               Memphis               can               become               almost               a               part               of               students               attending               the               University               of               Memphis               are               the               food               and               the               entertainment.

    If               you               come               from               out               of               state               you               are               in               for               a               real               treat.

    Memphis               is               home               to               barbecue,               Tennessee               style.

    There               continues               to               be               great               music               and               food               to               enjoy               and               if               you               come               to               the               University               of               Memphis               you               will               have               time               to               make               a               study               of               both.

    You               will               also               be               living               in               a               city               that               continues               to               attract               visitors               from               around               the               world               .
