About 'airport in ft myers fl'|an airport adventure, of sorts.

Twenty               five               years               ago,               I               came               to               Venice               as               a               vacationer.

Not               Venice               Italy,               not               Venice               California,               but               the               undiscovered               Venice,               Florida.

Six               years               ago,               I               became               a               permanent               resident               of               this               lovely               town.

And               I've               never               looked               back.

Venice               Florida               is               located               on               the               west               (or               Gulf)               coast               of               Florida,               about               halfway               between               Tampa               and               Naples.

Easy               access               to               Venice               is               by               taking               I-75               south               (if               traveling               by               car)               or               you               can               fly               into               Sarasota               or               Ft.

Myers               Airport.

Where               you               will               want               to               stay               is               one               of               the               local,               small               motels               or               rental               condos.

There               are               several               that               are               walking               distance               to               the               beach               as               well               as               "downtown               Venice."
Why               spend               your               vacation               time               in               Venice?

Besides               being               reasonable,               we               have               some               great               beaches               here               in               "V-Town,"               which               is               what               the               locals               call               our               little               piece               of               heaven.

The               main               beach               is               the               Venice               Public               Beach.

It               is               a               great               beach               to               hang               out,               watch               the               seabirds,               get               a               tan,               and               swim.

But               there               are               treasures               to               be               found               here               in               the               form               of               sharks               teeth.

Don't               worry               about               sharks,               though,               these               are               ancient               sharks               teeth.

Those               ones               would               be               about               the               size               of               an               adult's               palm.

If               you               stay               on               shore,               you'll               find               the               smaller               ones,               up               to               the               size               of               a               penny.

Between               the               two               beaches               is               the               South               Browhard               Paws               Park.

This               is               a               fido               friendly               park               with               it's               own               stretch               of               beach.

No               leashes               are               needed               here.

If               your               canine               companion               loves               the               water,               this               is               the               place               for               you!

After               your               dog               has               his               or               her               swim,               there               is               a               washing               station               where               you               can               (try)               and               remove               all               th               sand               and               salt               water.

There               are               more               beaches               snuggled               between               the               aforementioned               ones.

But               beaches               aren't               the               only               thing               to               visit               Venice               for.

There               is               the               Venice               Theater,               which               has               plays               (including               musicals)               throughout               the               year.

The               Venice               Art               Center               has               exhibitions               and               competitions               year               round,               featuring               local               artists               (including               yours               truly)               and               it's               free!
